Chatterpillars Social Skills Groups
Chatterpillars offers social skills programs for children who have difficulty making and keeping friends. Groups are offered for children between the ages of 4-15, typically grouped by age. Participants engage in fun-filled weekly activities that take place in the clinic and at a variety of community locations in as naturalistic a setting as possible. The social skills staff help participants increase their self-awareness in social situations via Video Modeling and an accompanying Chatterpillars scrapbook that chronicles group experiences while providing “subtle” suggestions to improve upon the captured scenarios.
DETAILS: The group is led by a therapist and an assistant. There may be up to six children in the group.
Chatterpillars Play Groups
Play groups offer developmentally appropriate social interactions and opportunities to establish cooperative play with peers under the guidance of highly trained staff. This group is designed with 3-4 year old children in mind. Chatterpillars play groups will help your child generalize skills learned at home into a small, social setting. As part of the weekly group meetings, we will guide children to take turns, develop more physical awareness of themselves in a group and offer ideas for parents to take home and apply in other social settings. Above all else, our primary goal is to foster positive memories of social interactions with peers.
DETAILS: The group is led by a therapist and an assistant. There may be up to 4 children in the group.
